Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz, Oh
What A Side Effect It Is????
This quote is both a mixture of
the drug company’s advertising and the truth about side effects. It has become
very alarming to me that one out of every two people I meet today take some type
of medication (Sinus, Heart, Ritalin, Blood Pressure, Stomach, Antibiotic,
etc.). Every medication has a side effect to your body. Health
cannot be restored from the outside in - it is restored from the inside out.
Hear is a list of some of the side
effects of many of the common medications taken today.

Research showed that rats and mice with artificially
induced cancer showed an increased rate of tumor growth when they were given
Prozac and other Antidepressants.
|
|
High doses of acetaminophen (Tylenol) – the primary
ingredient in many over-the-counter pain relievers – cause liver injury.
|
|
Women who subject themselves to estrogen replacement
therapy may be more than twice as likely to get breast cancer than women who
do not take the hormone.
|
|
The American Heart Association found that taking more than
15 aspirin tablets per week – what researchers consider a “high dose”
– doubles the risk of developing a hemorrhagic stroke, caused by bleeding
in the brain.
|
|
Up to 2 million people are hospitalized, and 140,000 die
each year from the side effects to prescription drugs. (USA Today)
|
|
Taking more than 365 aspirin in a year, or 1000 in your
lifetime, doubles the odds of developing kidney disease.
|
|
"180,000 die each year partly as a result of
iatrogenic (physician induced) injury, the equivalent of three jumbo-jet
crashes every 2 days.”
|
|
Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID’s) include
many over-the-counter preparations such as aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Nuprin,
Aleve, Naprosyn and others. These drugs may increase gastro-intestinal
bleeding.
|
|
NSAID’s are linked to an estimated 7,600 deaths and
76,000 hospitalizations a year.
|
|
Tylenol (or Acetaminophen) is the leading cause of
drug fatalities in the U.S. (2nd to Cocaine).
|
|
Acetaminophen fatalities, which include both accidental and
suicidal cases, dominate statistics gathered by poison control centers.
Note: Hospitals are not required to report cases.
|
|
Dr. Leape from Harvard said, “Medicine is now a high
hazard industry like aviation. The chance of dying from an aviation
accident is 1 in 200 million, but the chance of dying in a medical accident
is 1 in 200.”, 106,000 Adverse Drug Reactions.

The December 18th JAMA study found that amoxicillin “is
not effective in the treatment of persistent asymptomatic middle ear
effusion (fluid build-up) in infants and children. It concluded that
children who took the drug were 2 to 6 times more likely to have a
recurrence of fluid buildup than those receiving a sugar pill or placebo.

|
The September 12th, 1994, Time Magazine survey of nearly
700 children showed a disturbing link between children using antibiotics
with development delays.
|
|
The survey, which concluded…Nearly 75% of the delayed
children were reported to be developing normally in their first year of
life.
|
Damaging effects of Ritalin
can include:
|
Decreased blood flow to the brain, an effect recently shown
to be caused by cocaine where it is associated with impaired thinking
ability and memory loss… |
|
Disruption of growth hormone, leading to suppression of
growth in the body and brain of the child… |
|
Permanent neurological tics, including Tourette’s
Syndrome… |
|
Addiction and abuse, including withdrawal reactions on a
daily basis… |
|
Psychosis (mania), depression, insomnia, agitation, and
social withdrawal… |
|
Possible shrinkage (atrophy) or other permanent physical
abnormalities in the brain… |
|
Worsening of the very symptoms the drug is supposed
to improve including hyperactivity and inattention… |
|
Decreased ability to learn. |

Prozac has been implicated in numerous
suicides and acts of violence and can cause nausea, nervousness and
insomnia. Those are just the tip of the Iceberg. In MacLean’s article, Dr
Lorne Brandes, a Winnipeg cancer researcher, stated that there was evidence
that Prozac and some other widely used drugs may promote the growth of
cancerous tumors.
|
|
In May 1997, the Carcinogen Assessment
Committee of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that the
ingredient used in Ex-Lax (phenolphthalein) has been linked to cancer. ALL
of the laboratory rats subjected to high doses of the drug contracted cancer
within 6 months.

Drugs like Tagamet and Zantec “ stop
digestion of protein especially (because they both stop HCL production),”
A.C. Millet (Nutrition expert) explains. “ Was HCL mistakenly put into our
digestion process? I don’t think so. Antacids interfere with HCL release
and can upset body chemistry resulting in other problems. Long-term use can
lead to serious conditions (gastrointestinal complications)
|
|
Cholesterol Drugs like “cholestryamine”,
which have a long list of side effects, including a decrease in the ability
of the blood to clot. Furthermore, animal studies have shown the drug to
cause intestinal cancer. Also, this and other drugs have been linked to
depressive illnesses, sexual dysfunction, skin rashes and digestive
problems. |
As always, health cannot come from the outside or
a pill, health comes from within, and a properly functioning nervous system is
the essential key. Isn’t it time we stopped looking for health in the bottom
of a pill bottle. A better functioning nervous system means a better functioning
YOU. Spinal subluxations interfere with the working of the nervous system.
Chiropractic adjustments correct spinal subluxations. It’s as simple as
that.
My philosophy is Chiropractic first, Medicine
second and Surgery last.
